Meet the teacher. . .
HEllO. . . I'm so happy you're here!
My name is Chelsea Olson, and I am a Senior at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Fl. I am not your typical elementary education major. I am currently student teaching as a second-year resident in the College of Education, specifically the Urban Teacher Residency Partnership Program, also known as the UTRPP. “Better together” is our motto in the residency program. We believe that when students, professors, schools and teachers work together in an effort to produce outstanding teachers there is little room for failure. Similar to other educators, I passionately feel that I did not choose this profession, however, this profession chose me. At an early age I possessed certain qualities that would soon be identified by my family and teachers as being the essentials for making up a exceptional teacher. I knew throughout grade school what I was going to pursue as my life calling. As I worked toward my ultimate goal of having my own classroom, little did I know I was going to be in a teacher preparation program that was going to challenge my beliefs as an educator, push me to new limits, and ultimately prepare me for the rigorous field of education. The family that I have graciously been a part of for the past year and a half has inspired me to put forth my best in everything that I do.
This blog will take you along with me on a journey of teaching, learning, growth, success, failures, experiences, AHA! moments, and so much more. As I use this outlet to reflect and connect about my own experiences, my own stories, my course work, and my teaching philosophies, I would love to hear from others doing the same thing. . .shaping the minds of our future. Take a look around and feel free to invite others to stop by.

*This video was made using Animoto. This cloud-based video creator is easy to use, customizable, and fun! I can use this to show to my students, and even let them create their own videos. I created this video for my Social Studies course this spring to meet the Sunshine State Standard for social studies, (SS.3.A.1.1) analyze primary and secondary sources.
